Modern and classical music crash and blend seamlessly, as German violinist David Garrett presents a wondrous array of music that captivates his listeners of all ages.
Back for a command performance at The Bushnell's Belding Theatre, Garrett powerfully melds pop and classical music, bringing out the classical undertones in beloved rock songs and pulling classical favorites into the modern age, destroying genre completely and rebuilding it from the ground up.
An astonishing musical talent from a young age, David Garrett was already a coveted orchestral soloist and signed to a major record label by the age of 13. But the turning point for Garrett came at the age of 14, when he was introduced for the first time to rock music. As new genres opened up to him, he began to build the unique style for which he is now famous, playing Mozart and Michael Jackson side by side as if they'd been band mates.
Garrett presents a myriad of sounds in his concerts, launching into a set that could include AC/DC, Vivaldi, Queen and Bizet. He does not simply play the songs, but interprets them and combines his varied influences to create an entirely new sound. The most familiar of songs take on new dimensions as Garrett performs with both a symphony orchestra and a full rock band, to create a unique musical experience that will not soon be forgotten.
