ZZ Top Joins Danbury Concert Series

Just days after Glee star Matthew Morrison shelved his upcoming stop at Danbury's Ives Concert Park to join New Kids on the Block and the Backstreet Boys, the local summer series found a suitable replacement in iconic blues rockers ZZ Top, who will perform on August 25.

ZZ Top, often referred to as "That Little Ol' Band from Texas," are anything but: the trio of Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill and Frank Beard have been a touring force for the past four decades, boast album sales in excess of 50 million, and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004. The band has had a slew of hits including "Legs," and "La Grange," and their Southern-tinged rock tracks and booming guitars still whip audiences into a frenzy.

ZZ Top joins a host of other top acts on the summer series including Spearhead's Michael Franti, Peter Frampton, Earth, Wind & Fire, Steely Dan, Alison Krauss and Union Station, Guster (with recently-added opening act Ra Ra Riot), and the Beach Boys.
